What We
Believe
(FSBC Statement of Faith)
We believe the Holy Bible was
written by men divinely inspired and that it is the record of
God’s revelation of Himself to man, and that it is without error.
We believe in the only true God,
and that he exists in three persons – Father, Son, and Holy Spirit
– with distinct personal attributes, but without division of
nature, essence, or being.
We believe in the Lord Jesus
Christ, God’s only begotten Son, His virgin birth, sinless life,
sacrificial atoning death for our sins, His bodily resurrection, and
His personal, literal, imminent return.
We believe that God created the
heavens and the earth, including all life, by direct act, not by the
process of evolution.
We believe that hell is a real
place and that Satan is a real person.
We believe that heaven is a real
place and that one must receive Jesus Christ as personal Savior in
order to go there.
We believe that man in his
natural state can in no way save himself no matter how good his
intentions. God, however, has provided a way for all people to
be saved by grace through faith in His Son, Jesus Christ, and that
it is a free gift of God.
We believe in righteous living
and good works, not as the means of salvation, but as its evidence
and fruit.
We believe in the autonomy of the
local church and practice the ordinances of Baptism and the Lord’s
Supper.
We believe in giving our tithes
and offerings to and through the local church to support local and
world evangelism.
We believe evangelism is the
responsibility and privilege of every member of the local church.
